Please note: The XR hub is currently only available in German.
“Abba’s Hub” is a virtual 3D learning platform that stages Abba Naor’s life story as a walk-through timeline. His story is divided into 16 episodes (each lasting less than five minutes), which are presented in chronological order. The platform allows for different forms of social interaction, exercise formats and topics to focus on when exploring the hub and discovering Abba Naor’s story. The individual episodes are designed as puzzles: Each station has been assigned central three-dimensional objects or a three-dimensional environment that refer to his story in a concrete or abstract way, but their meaning is not immediately apparent to the user. When entering the hub, users are thus initially confronted with a riddle that is intended to spark curiosity, make the users come up with assumptions and connections and form expectations: What does the tiled stove mean? Why is there a horse in this room? Why are there candles here? The users then have the opportunity to “activate” the stations, which prompts the corresponding passage from Abba’s story to be played. The meaning of the objects is hinted at without taking away all room for interpretation. Illustrative source material such as historical photographs and additional contextualizing information can also be found in the rooms.
The learning environment can be customized, i.e. additional media content can also be embedded.
Part 1 is about life in the Kaunas ghetto.
Part 2 revolves around Abba’s time in the concentration camps.
