Eva Umlauf’s Interactive Digital Testimony

Please note: Eva Umlauf’s testimony is currently only available in German.

Eva Umlauf was born on December 19, 1942 in the Nováky forced labor and transit camp. At just two years old, she was deported to Auschwitz with her pregnant mother.

The camp was liberated by the Red Army on January 27, 1945. Six months later, Eva returned to Slovakia with her mother and little sister, while her father did not survive.

She studied medicine in Bratislava. After suffering a heart attack in 2014, she decided to write down her story in a book. She now lives in Munich, works as a psychotherapist and actively campaigns against forgetting the Nazi era – including in the LediZ and VoViREx projects.

Eva Umlauf is one of the youngest survivors of the Auschwitz concentration camp.
