Music in Theresienstadt Concentration Camp (XR Hub)

Please note: The XR hub is currently only available in German.

“Music in Theresienstadt Concentration Camp” is a free e-learning platform designed to give pupils, college students and other interested parties an insight into the cultural life of Theresienstadt Concentration Camp. In schools, a condensed study of this topic is possible within a 90-minute lesson. The platform consists of three virtually accessible 3D rooms and a 360° video. The first room provides background information about the Theresienstadt concentration camp and the life of the prisoners. The second room depicts cultural life in the camp. The third room outlines the life and work of the composer Viktor Ullmann. The 360° video is a multi-perspective recording of Viktor Ullmann’s last work, “Die Weise von Liebe und Tod des Cornets Christoph Rilke” (“The love and death of Cornet Christopher Rilke”), which was performed by the Jewish Chamber Orchestra Munich at historical locations in Theresienstadt. Online, users have the opportunity to take over the camera direction for the music themselves: they can switch freely between the individual video tracks. The platform is designed as an educational game: In each room, students have to solve questions that can only be answered by carefully reading/listening to/watching the media content. By answering the questions correctly, the entry codes for the next room are created. The corresponding exercise sheets and further information can be found by clicking on the image.
